The Ketogenic Diet

I thought we would provide a place to ask questions and get additional information about the diet that has helped Noah.

Here are a couple of links that we’ve found helpful:

The Charlie Foundation

John’s Hopkins Keto Page

Please feel free to ask questions and we’ll try to answer them as best we can.

I have just found out about you and your son and family – as I guess many have – on the New York Times.
I have a daughter born with cerebral palsy. She is 3.5 and has a fairly mild form on the spectrum, although she cannot walk, which many people would not consider “mild”, however we have seen all aspects of the spectrum and know how lucky we are.
The reason I am writing to you is to share something that I only discovered about a year ago, but wish I’d known about when she was an infant – I was in Holland (funny, I always describe our situation to people who don’t know what it is like to be in a NICU and be told about the condition of your baby as being suddenly lost in a foreign country).
I know you must be inundated by do-gooder’s advice about therapies.
This is something that gave us our daughter, and gave our daughter a richer life and will eventually be the reason she will be able to walk (she is already now using a walker). It was developed by a Dr. Svetlana Masgutova in Russia. You can find information on her website masgutovamethod.com
If you want further explanation I would be happy to talk to you.
The reason I thought of you, too, is that Noah is an excellent candidate for this type of therapy. There are children whose seizures have been considerably abated by MNRI (Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration), and children with traumatic brain injuries of many types who have made incredible gains using this method.
Many children say their first words after only one of the family conferences (or ‘camps’ where we do intensive therapy sessions for about 8 days, but with fun activities for the children).
It is a truly remarkable type of therapy, and Svetlana is an incredlble, warm, compassionate, and gifted person.
If this is compelling at all to you, don’t hesitate to contact me. This is, obviously, unsolicited, but I have such a strong feeling that this is a perfect fit for Noah.
I know it sounds like I work for them; I am just thrilled to find something other than the traditional pt/ot that didn’t seem to be doing anything for Archer.
